Help! I got braid extentions put in four days ago, and now the ends of my natural hair are starting to poke out of the extentions. Should I be putting some kind of oil on them or sleepig with my hair wrapped in something to prevent this? Is there anything I can do other than trimming what's sticking out? I have fine hair, so does that make it easier for my hair to do this?
Help me ladies!
( :( Up until now I was entertainning the illusion of keeping my hair like this forever!!)

Re: How do you care for synth braid extensions?
Mon, November 20, 2006 - 8:33 AMNo doubt it is a beautiful style but truth be told, pokies on braids(and twists and sometimes dreads) are tough if not impossible to avoid. You can use a little spirit gum if you wish. Used lightly as a fixative, it will dissolve with water and soap over time. That still won't solve ALL your pokie issues since I know pokies are often stronger that the gum. I recommend Hairpolice's braid and dread clamps for the really tough ones. THey are small, silver, metal, filagree clamps that you can tighten down over rough pokies to disguise the inconsistensies. Putting oil on pokies before you sleep will give your natural hair more slip- and more ability to slide though those kanekalon plaits. cutting your pokies will also cause them to migrate out of one turn and up into the next.................arghhhhh.........you could try cutting the feet out of panyhose, tying the legs and making a funny hat to sleep in to avoid excess friction on your head. Some of my dread clients love their hose hats-I have never tried it and don't even know if it would help for braid pokies but reducing friction would not hurt. What about wraps with embroidery thread? THat would keep those pokes at bay and could add more color and texture. I'd love to hear if you find a solution you really like so keep us posted enjoy those braidy beauties!

Wed, December 13, 2006 - 11:14 AMI've heard that wrapping your head in a silk scarf is great for sleeping.
